From its large carbon wheel to the fine teak joinerwork and Ultra-leather or suede upholstery below, or simply by the smooth, graceful way it slides through the water, the new J/124 is every bit a sailing yacht... in the best sense of the word. Yet, J/124's focus on short-handed sailing qualities doesn't preclude many days of offshore coastal sailing. Her narrow beam and low center-of-gravity are hallmarks of seaworthiness. All the important stuff is there: An adequate galley and chart table; the accessible top-loading icebox; 6 feet of headroom; three separate sleeping areas; a dodger for all-weather protection; and a cockpit made secure with 14" high backrests and seats that are long enough to sleep on. The high-tech composite hull evolves from J's that have dominated IRC competition in Europe over the past three years. The Hall Spars mast and ACC rudder are carbon fiber. Easiest configuration of all is the optional and removable Hoyt self-tacking jib boom with roller furling jib.

Key Features

This boat was custom built in mind more for cruising than for racing. Though this is true, the speed of this boat and response in light winds is still phenomenal with the extra add-ons .

-This boat is made for speed and distance!  A scrimp infused hull, deep and well-balanced keel along with an all carbon fiber mast by Hall Spars finished in Awlgrip White.

-With its Leisure Furling system along with a push-button electric halyard winch system to assist with the easy raising of the mainsail and a port and starboard electric assisted set of winches for the trimming and handling of the jib sheets and main makes this boat quite exceptional and easy to handle.

-Full battened mainsail, 100% furling jib and asymmetrical spinnaker included.

-The large carbon fiber wheel is a dream. Connected to an Edson steering system with a deep rudder allows for easy steering even in the stiffest of winds and while motoring and maneuvering in the tightest of spots. Sit on either side of the helm station and steer with one hand and let the wind zip you along with ease.

-Safety emergency tiller handle located inside the stern port lazarette which quickly connects to the rudder post accessed from a removable center helm seat panel.

-This J124 has been custom outfitted with an integrated bow thruster system making maneuverability in tight spots stress-free.  To the eye, the thruster is invisible and hidden.  That is until it's needed.  Push the on button located at the helm station and the bomber bay door automatically opens.  Push the arrow buttons to move the bow to port or starboard. This increase in maneuverability in tight spots is amazing to experience and brings a new level of safety in protecting the boat and other boats around you.

Windlass/Anchoring/Davit System

-Windlass system by MUIR.  250' of chain connected to the best anchor in the world "ROCNA" This stainless steel designed anchor and rode system when deployed will give you zero concerns of dragging.  So, don't hesitate to go to those remote anchorages and sleep like a baby at night! The anchor can be lowered and raised from an integrated remote-control display unit located in the starboard stern locker or from watertight floor buttons located at the bow of the boat.

-Speaking of anchoring, you will need a lightweight but durable dingy. You can drag a boat behind you but with this boat why not quickly hoist it on its davit system reducing drag and deploy it when needed at anchor. (An optional never used AB Dingy with a Sunbrella cover is available for an extra cost).

  1. INTEGRATED RAYMARINE LIFE TAG SYSTEM

-This is not normally found on a boat of this size but to me is an essential part of a safe boat system.  Life Tags are remote waterproof devices that attach to all on-board PFD's. Should a crew member fall off the vessel an immediate alarm is sounded and a MOB mark is displayed on each of the chart plotters. This enables the vessel to find and rescue the person from the water with expediency.
